Tactical & Construction Equipment Maintenance Support — U.S. Army training-area operations at Hohenfels / Grafenwoehr.

Position summary

Inspection, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of heavy construction and material-handling equipment used in support of U.S. Army training and operational missions. All assigned equipment is maintained in fully mission-capable condition per applicable Technical Manuals (TMs), safety standards and contractual requirements.

Primary responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on heavy construction and support equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and powertrain systems
  • Corrective maintenance: removal, replacement, adjustment and overhaul of major components
  • Maintain and repair excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, backhoes, graders, compactors/rollers, cranes (in scope), forklifts and material-handling equipment (MHE), and tactical engineer equipment where applicable
  • Service diesel engines and fuel systems, hydraulics (pumps, cylinders, valves, lines), electrical systems and control modules, transmission/drivetrain/braking, air systems and suspension
  • Use technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic tools; document via automated maintenance systems (e.g. GCSS-Army)
  • Equipment recovery and field-level repairs as required; tool, parts and shop accountability

Minimum qualifications

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of experience maintaining heavy construction or industrial equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and heavy-equipment systems
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and wiring diagrams
  • Valid driver's licence (military licence preferred but not required)
  • English (working language on site); German a plus

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior support to U.S. Army, DoD or contingency operations
  • Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91L (Construction Equipment Repairer) or equivalent
  • GCSS-Army or similar ERP maintenance systems
  • OEM or industry certifications (CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, ASE Heavy Equipment)
  • Experience operating heavy equipment for testing and validation

Work environment

Position summary

Primary responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on light tactical vehicles per applicable Technical Manuals (TMs)
  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Corrective maintenance and repair, including component removal and replacement
  • Service diesel and gasoline engines, drivetrain and suspension, brakes, electrical systems (wiring harnesses, lighting, batteries), steering and alignment
  • Maintain HMMWV, JLTV (where applicable), light trailers, towed equipment and auxiliary systems (heaters, ECUs)
  • Document work orders and maintenance actions via automated maintenance systems (e.g. GCSS-Army)
  • Inspections, services and readiness checks; recovery operations for disabled vehicles when required
  • Compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards; tool, parts and property accountability

Minimum qualifications

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience on light tactical or commercial vehicles
  • Experience with military platforms (HMMWV, JLTV or similar) preferred
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and fault diagnostics
